Dalnaha, Strathmore

"Dalnaha, Strathmore" - watercolour - 16 x 26 cm

Beyond Loch More, in upper Strathmore, there are few buildings still in an inhabitable state. There are some old shooting lodges, and a small community around Altnabreac railway station, but most of the old buildings are ruins now. The cottage at Dalnaha is one of the survivors. It's not lived in permanently, but it's furnished and presumably used as a holiday cottage. With no other properties within several miles it would be a very peaceful place to stay.

  2. Good morning Keith!... Your vista captures the isolation and remote nature perfectly. Can you imagine that isolation a hundred years or more back in time??

Being in such a place does not bother me any... nor you either! A great painting!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

    1. Hi Bruce, isolation is relative isn't it? A hundred years ago there was a thriving community up there. They lived miles apart, scattered over the Strath and without any transport; and yet they all helped each other out when anything needed doing. Now people can feel alone in the middle of a town.

      All the best,
      Keith

So again, I must say your landscapes are the best !!
The grainy sky, the white of the buildings ... all of it makes for a perfect palette and composition.. I'd take instruction from you if I didn't live across the pond.!! BJ
